Our team consists of vehicle engineers with backgrounds in the automotive industry. Our broad experience includes suspension testing, suspension/chassis tuning and development, steering system development, vehicle dynamics simulation, and top-level racing. Race vehicle testing is our specialty, but we can test almost any 4-wheeled vehicle with a suspension. We encourage in-depth investigations and our staff is always available to design special tests and provide engineering support.
Bob Simons, President (MSME, Purdue University; BSME, Lehigh University): Bob is from Lancaster, PA. He was a professor at Davenport University for six years, and simultaneously an engineering consultant. He was also a development engineer at Delphi Automotive Systems for three years. Bob has experience with steering system design, control system integration, lab testing, and data acquisition. He has worked as a consultant with a number of automotive OEMs, software companies, and racing teams. In his spare time he has prepared and driven his own SCCA-IT racecar. Bob has also been to Mardi Gras.
Devin Harris, K&C Test Engineer (BSME, University of North Carolina at Charlotte): Devin is from Ferguson, NC. He has previous experience as an automotive technician and has recently graduated from UNCC with a concentration in motorsports engineering. Devin was on the suspension team for the UNCC Formula SAE Team. In his newly found spare time Devin races a dirt late model and enjoys fishing and playing golf. He is also on a mission to watch more movies.
Charlie Metcalf, K&C Test Technician (Degrees in Automotive Technology and Motorsports Management. From Rowan Cabarrus Community College): Charlie grew up in China Grove, NC. Previously, he worked for PENSKE Racing in the Engine Research and Development division. In his spare time he likes to spend it with his wife and sons. Also he is working very hard trying to train his Doberman Pincher Blake. Charlie has a large movie collection, which makes him a good guy for Devin to know!
Jill Simons, Office Manager (AS, Davenport University): Jill is from Sebewaing, MI, which is in the “Thumb” of Michigan. Jill has wide ranging experience, from manufacturing to living on a farm to being an office manager for a manufacturer of custom motorcycles. She is also the mother of two teenagers, which basically means she doesn’t take crap from anybody! Jill keeps the office running efficiently and acts as your “lunch lady” on test days. In her spare time, Jill enjoys baking cakes. She is also fascinated with cows.
Jack and Lucky, Shop Dogs: Jack is a mix of black lab and Border collie, and is too smart for his own good. Lucky was a stray that Jack was nice enough to adopt. We are not sure what breed Lucky is – you can see almost every dog breed in him, so he has a great mix. They are best buddies and love going on walks every day with Bob. You might not see Jack around often on test days as he doesn’t like the sound of the rig running. Lucky is happy to hang out so you might see him on test days. Jack and Lucky live with Bob and Jill, their official food people.
Daisy, Head of Security: Daisy is a Great Pyrenees mix and she looks like a St Bernard. This is a puppy picture so don’t be surprised by her size when you see her in person. Daisy is Jill’s dog and is Jack and Lucky’s “little” sister. Lucky especially loves playing with Daisy in the yard every day.
